It is a sad day when a jet filled with vacationers just disappears and no sign is found of the plane. Today they started to find some of the bodies from the downed jet and I wonder if they will all ever be found. It would be a very sad day to think one of your friends or relatives was missing with little or no hope of finding their body to put it to rest with the rest of your family, I do not think I would handle something like that very well. God Bless the families of the folks on the doomed plane and I hope your family is found and put to rest soon.

The Super Bowl that featured my team the Arizona Cardinals and the Pittsburgh Steelers was by far the best Super Bowl I have seen in many years. The game was not decided until the last seconds and both teams had a great chance to win the game. I hope this is the Cardinals turning the corner to become a top notch NFL football team and not the laughing stock of the league that they have become with Bill Bidwell as their owner. I am very pleased today to be a Cardinals fan.

Over the weekend the Tennessee Titians won their football game the old fashioned way, with a outstanding defense a good kicker and a quarterback who did not drag the team down to his childish level. Kerry Collins led the team to victory against the Houston Texans. I do not think that Vince Young could of do the same. I fear that our teams quarterback of the future has little or no future in the NFL. It has nothing to do with his color, it has to do with the fact that he is not ready to be a NFL quarterback and he may never get his game ramped up to that very high level. I was a proponent of drafting the local product Jay Cutler a couple of years ago when we took Vince Young, Cutler has over 800 yards in his first three games this year and has lead the Broncos to a 3-0 record.

Most of us are deeply concerned about the effect of Hurricane Ike and I have to admit that I’ve kept the TV on CNN all night and checked it repeatedly to see what’s happening in Houston. I’ve very frustrated that the focus is on Galveston – I feel bad for those people but I’m much more concered with what has happened in Houston. The refineries, the port, the interstate – all of these risk severe damage that will impact the rest of the nation – and especially the southeastern states.

So with all eyes on Texas for the past couple of days it was an extra shock to learn of the train wreck in L.A. The thought of a fully loaded passenger train colliding head on with a freight train just makes my stomach flip over. The impact of the colliding freight train pushed the passenger train engine into the the first passenger car, killing and severly injuring those passengers immediately. After over 12 hours of rescue attempts they stil have not reached those front passenger car victims to see if anyone is still alive and they already have at least 17 people dead from the second car. It’s a horrible thing to have happened.
