This week the streets of Nashville have been filled with tourists and with some streets closed it has been very hard to get around and get any work done. Not every business in Nashville caters to the tourist and they simply get in the way of people trying to make a living. I had several times I was dispatched to Broadway and could not get my work done in a timely manner because of all the tourists in the way. I for one will be glad when the CMA junk is done and the tourists go home.

Since I live in the midst of a lot of celebrities here in Nashville I always carry a sharpie with me to get autographs for my collection. I have talked to Peter Frampton in the line at the grocery store, had lunch with Tony Curtis in Las Vegas. Walked with John Goodman at a convention and we always see some of the Titans and Predators here at different events. At one event near us in the crowd was Steve Earl and Peter Frampton. This is one of the reasons that I really love Nashville. Years ago I was at a party at a friend’s house and began a conversation with one of the guys hanging around the beer keg. He seemed a likable guy and we talked mostly about motorcycles and road trips. Turns out the guy was Bob Seger and although I knew the name at the time I can’t believe I didn’t know him by sight. He looked like a regular guy and didn’t act stuck up at all. I’ve been a huge fan of his ever since. I especially like some of his older songs, like “Beautiful Loser” and “Fire Lake. “ Tonight Levon Helm is in concert at the Ryman and I just got tickets to go, I have wanted to see this show since I heard it was coming to Nashville. Special guests are going to be John Hyatt and Delbert McClinton. This is going to be one great show, I can not wait to get there and see this Americana Music show, we do not get out to a lot of shows but this is one I really want to go to. This week is also the Eagles and I am trying to get good tickets to go see that one too. A really good week for music in Music City. While I was eating my lunch I watched a little of the top 20 music video countdown on one of the country music TV stations. I was flabbergasted to see some of the videos they put in the country top ten. Kid Rock was in at number 6, in no way shape or form do I consider Kid Rock country and I am pretty sure he feels the same way. I like his song about summer time and I think it is a top ten record but not a top ten country record. To top that at number 3 was Jessica Simpson with her trollop fest all she does is arch her back and strut around, the girl could not carry a tune in a bucket with a lid on it, I guess she is catering to the young crowd but the song sucks and so does she. It put an early end to my bologna sandwich and I had to just go back to work. |
